Actually, you do not have to worry that much, because Vietnam is known as one of the shopping heavens in Southeast Asia, so the necessities are surely supplied widely at an enjoyable price. But you will also need some special following things to make your Vietnam family holidays run as smoothly as possible.

Travel documents, which include passport, visas, travel insurance certificate, air tickets, and tour voucher. For the Vietnamese Visa on Arrival, please make sure you have 2 passports sized 4 cm x 6 cm photos and $25 for the stamping fee per family member.

Money, yes, of course! In Vietnam, you could use cash and credit card (just make sure you let your card issuer bank know you’re going to use your card in Vietnam for security). You should have a number of Vietnamese Dongs for your convenience (and for your great feeling of a millionaire!), in case you cannot prepare much before the big trip, don’t worry as exchanging money in Vietnam is super easy, and many restaurants and places accepting foreign currencies.

Medication, including a doctor’s letter if you are carrying a large amount of medication, prescription glasses, and contact lens solution if required. Insect repellent will be useful if you go with your kids.

A camera will soon become your inseparable thing because this country is too beautiful to miss even a small scene. If you don’t carry a camera or phone along, you and your family members will definitely have a big regret.

Kids’ Stuff: When your kids are happy, you are happy. Make sure all of your kids’ essentials are packed and ready, perhaps with their favorite toys, comic books, snacks, and coolest outfits… Adults like to enjoy new things yet kids prefer their own familiarities.

The Differences in Weather Patterns in Vietnam

When you go with your family, the weather patterns of Vietnam will be something that is noteworthy because Vietnam’s climate surprisingly varies from region to region. As a destination is possible for all-year-around travel, you could choose the time schedule and places to visit as suitable as much for you and your family members. A good study on Vietnam weather during your vacation time helps a lot with your packing list too!

weather of vietnam family tours

In the North (from Hanoi to Sapa), a year has 04 seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Spring lasts from February to April with warm weather. From May to August is summertime with the super hot and showery weather. Cold air and dry and slightly windy weather are features of autumn which last from September to November. It can be said that it is the most beautiful season of the year with yellow leaves falling on the streets and yellow bright shining in the daytime although sometimes typhoons bring in some heavy rain and flood in the central part of the country. Winter lasts from November to January with cold and dry weather. Frost and snow once or twice come in the mountains (over 1000 m above level sea), which makes Vietnamese people eager to go up to see and take nice photos of such rare events of the year.

The center (from Nha Trang to Hue) sunbathes most of the year and enjoys its showers for the whole of November and December. Dalat, at an altitude of 1500m, is cooler than the coastal area, particularly from November to March. Da Nang and Hue both experience typhoon activity from mid-October to mid-December when the climate becomes cooler, more overcast, and wet.

The Southern region (from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet) is predominantly sun-equatorial with two main seasons wet rainy and dry. A wet rainy season ranges from April to September. Showers often rain heavily but stop quickly. A dry season spans the months of October to May. The weather becomes hotter with all days of sunshine. However, it becomes much cooler at night.

“What Do We Eat for Dinner Mommy?”

Foods take a big portion of our concern on every trip. It is not really “What will we eat there?”, but more exactly is “What can we eat there?”. But Vietnam is a different story, as this nation’s culinary art is so excellent and diverse it can charm anyone. Therefore anyone is able to find something fitting their stomach, regardless of their age or nationality.

The most beautiful thing is that they are at a very good price level.

In this country, you can enjoy the true meaning of the “Eat, Pray and Love” spirit. However, if you have problems with allergies or your kids need something special, you will need to discuss with the staff your family conditions and the foods’ ingredients before these fantastic meals start.

What if my children have food allergy?

We try to accommodate all food requirements along your Vietnam family trips, so make sure you notice us at the time of booking. Although we endeavour to have some alternative options available, it may be difficult for some restaurants to determine if foods are 100% allergen-free. It is advised that you take the same precautions as you do when eating out at a restaurant in your country, and maybe pack some snacks that you know are totally safe.

Is there always vegetarian available?

There is usually a vegetarian option available. Most picnic and buffet-style meals will have lots of salads, rice dishes and breads.

Which standard can I expect the accommodations will be?

We choose the accommodations carefully and carefully. Generally these will be a twin room with private facilities. We use a variety of accommodation on our Vietnam family trips, which are chosen for their value for money, atmosphere and location. Where possible, we also try to incorporate unique accommodation experiences, such as a night on junk cruise at Halong Bay.

Will we sleep in the same room?

Your family will always get a twin room. For groups of three, we will try our best to find a triple room. Please be aware that in some destinaitons, triple rooms are in short supply. This means a triple room will often simply be a twin room with a mattress on the floor or a fold-up bed. Where it is impossible to provide a triple room, you can decide which of your party takes a separate single room. For families of four or more, we will find two twin rooms. Where possible, we will aim to put your family in a quadruple room.

While we will do our best to ensure that families are roomed close, we can not guarantee this. Most Vietnam family holidays occur during the peak seasons and we sometimes meet no control over where your rooms will be as these are allocated by the hotel operators.

How will you allocate our accommodations?

We will allocate your family's rooms before you arrive. If you are one requiring more than one room, we will always try to make sure that yours are next to each other and on the same floor of the hotels or resorts.

Can I request a specific room type?

We often use the same standard of room type in all our accommodations as we have an allocation at the hotels we use. Send us a message of your specific room type if have.

Will there be a swimming pool?

Children are always fond of swimming so we try to use accommodations with pools where possible. If there may not be hotels with pools nearby, we will try to find your family a freshwater lake or secluded beach where you can cool off.

Do families spend all their time together?

No, all of our Vietnam family tours are planned with a mix of activities and free time so you can enjoy some downtime while your chidren can explore together on their own.

Can children (or adults) opt out of the activities?

Activities in Vietnam family tours are definitely optional, and it may be possible to do some independent exploring. In addtion, parents are responsible for their children at all times, so you will need to supervise if they want to opt out.

Do we need specific footwear for our children?

Our Vietnam family holidays often cover a lot of ground, especially they have trekking areas where terrain can be challenging and steep. You will need waterproof footwear with a good grip when rainfall is possible. For any family trips that are not specifically trekking, a comfortable, sturdy pair of shoes such as trainers or sneakers will be recommended.

Do the itineraries cater specifically for children

Travel experts of Viet Vision Travel, many of whom have children, have specifically crafted the itineraries to make sure they run at a family-friendly pace and minimize traveling time. Plenty of free time is added for families to participate in activities that suit their interests, and group activities are designed to work around dining times.

Are there activities aimed at adults?

Our activities are designed for all ages, and we always encourage every member of the family to get involved.

Tour Guide

Are tour guide trained with families?

Absolutely. Our family tour guide are multi-experienced in working with children. They are friendly and have a great rapport with the children. They have to undergo extra rigorous training to ensure they can work well with the dynamic of the younger group members.

Does the tour guide provide childcare?

In spite of the fact that we employ special tour guides that have relevant experiences in looking after children, they are not there to provide childcare. Tour guides are present to handle all logistics and make sure that your family trip runs smoothly, but the parents must be responsible for their children at all times.

It is the best to arrange travel insurance before your departure. If you would like assistance with arranging insurance cover, please leave us a message.

Are Western-like medical facilities available during the trip?

Vietnam has the private, Western-style hospitals. If you have any medical issues, your tour guide can contact the local office of Viet Vision Travel for advice and assistance.

If any of your family are unwell, it is also recommended you to make contact with your travel insurance provider. They will offer assistance, advice on policy coverage and usually have recommended medical centers or international hospitals that has English-speaking medical staff.

Should I bring a first-aid kit?

If not required, it had better prepare for any little bumps or bruises along the way. Without going overboard, we always recommend to bring a supply of Band-Aids and disinfectant, some paracetamol, motion sickness tablets (if needed), hydrolytes (or similar) and any personal medical items that might be necessary throughout the duration of the trip.

How about prescription medicine?

If one member of the family is travelling with prescription medicine, it is recommended that they bring the extra in the case of loss or if the medication is spoilt or damaged.

We also advise carrying a doctor’s letter of prescription with you and recommend the leader on the first day of the trip of any medical conditions. If you are traveling with any medicine that needs to be refrigerated, you must let our travel experts know at the time of booking.

Do we need vaccinations to travel?

Please contact your local doctor or specialist traveler’s vaccination center at least 2 months prior to departure. They can give you all the information you need about what specific vaccinations should be taken prior to your familty trip to Vietnam.

How safe is the transport?

We regularly inspect all of the vehicles in our family tours to Vietnam to ensure that they adhere to strict safety requirements. They are all fitted with seatbelts.

How safe are the activities?

In organised activities, we use and regularly audit trusted local operators who are well aware of the necessary safety equipment as well as procedures, including supplying correctly fitting life-jackets and helmets.

Can we drink the water?

Your tour guide will offer advice on a case-by-case basis. If you are advised not to drink groundwater, Viet Vision Travel recommends that you pack water purification tablets rather than buying bottled water (it is somehow better for the environment).

What are the toilets' facilities like?

All of the accommodations we use will have modern flushing toilets. In some rural areas, please be advised that toilet facilities may be more rudimentary standard than your family enjoys at home. In these circumstances, it is recommended carrying hand sanitation products. However, remember – it is all part of the experience!
