FULL ITINERARY
Cu Chi Tunnels, which is 70 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City's center, is one of the highlights of cruise passengers' Phu My shore excursions. It has a vast system of interconnected underground tunnels that have seen multiple military operations during the Vietnam War. Whether you are a veteran, an enthusiast of war sites, or just a tourist, you will leave the Cu Chi Tunnels with fresh and insightful perspectives on the nation.
We will drive to the renowned Cu Chi Tunnels, which the Viet Cong used as their operational base for the Tet Offensive in 1968, after departing from the cruise port to board the Ho Chi Minh City beach excursion. We will travel there by way of the stunning rice paddies and rubber plantations scenery. Before entering the network of tunnels at Cu Chi, we watch a brief introduction movie to learn how they were built. A variety of mantraps, the wreckage of an American tank, and multiple bomb craters created by 500 lb bombs dropped by B52 bombers are also on show. After that, we'll head back to Ho Chi Minh City.
After a satisfying lunch at a reputable neighborhood eatery, we proceed to the Reunification Palace, one of the city's most significant structures, before seeing Notre Dame Cathedral and the Saigon Old Post Office. The Post Office, which was designed by Gustave Eiffel and constructed between 1877 and 1883, is a prime example of classical French colonial architecture. The Ben Thanh Market, a very famous tourist destination mostly because of its rich history and ideal location, is where we spend some time shopping to cap off the day. From gorgeous silk Ao Dai to fake Nike shoes, it sells a variety of things. Before heading back to the dock in plenty of time for the cruise, we may stop for a drink at the Roof Top Bar, if time permits. Your day excursion to Ho Chi Minh City is over. Thanks for joining Vietnam shore excursions with us!
Special Note: The trip to Cu Chi takes around 5 hours, including the 3 hours spent in the city. Starting from Phu My Port, it will be a busy day trip. If your cruise docks all day and departs in the evening, you can plan your excursion from the Phu My port.
