Dau Pagoda – Hanoi

Dau Pagoda – Official name: Thanh Dao tu (Pagoda of Religious accomplishment), in Nguyen Trai village (Thuong Tin district, Ha Tay province). Buddhist cult and also cult of Buddhist doctrine of the power of Rain (Phap Vu) in the system of Tu Phap. According to the legend, 1he pagoda might have been built at the time of the Chinese Governor Si Nhiep (late IInd century – early lllrd century) right after the construction of the chain pagodas called Tu Phap in Luy Lau (Bac Ninh). Under the Tran (1225 – 1400), the pagoda was enlarged, a stone dragon remains on the steps of the prior house of Tien Duong.

Under the Mac (XlVth century), it was restored; a stele remains dated from 1565 (4th year of Sung Khanh reign). The stele of 1639 registers the merits of odalisque Ngo ThiNgoc Nguyen who financed the reconstruction of the pagoda, giving it the aspect entirely preserved until now.
