Recognised as Asia’s premier golf championship, The Royal Trophy sees the best European players take on Asia’s finest at the immaculate Amata Spring Country Club. The ‘Battle of the Continents’ follows the match-play format of
the Ryder Cup and Team Asia will be out for revenge in 2009 as the legendary 5-time Major winner Seve Ballesteros has captained the Europeans to victory in the first two competitions.
Teams of eight top level players and a non-playing captain do battle in four foursomes matches, four four-ball matches and eight singles matches over the course of the weekend, and the winners are presented with the Royal Trophy – donated by His Majesty the King of Thailand.
In the latest edition of the Event, the winning European side featured a selection of Ryder Cup stars including England’s Lee Westwood, the Northern Irish Darren Clarke and the Irish Paul McGinley as well as Swedes Henrik Stenson and Robert Karlsson. The Asian representatives included Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, Jeev Milkha Singh of
