Cycling Travel Guide Vietnam
Vietnam has the best roads in the region, but that still doesn't mean they are in great shape. The highlands of the northern parts, the red river delta, centre highlands or Mekong delta offer incredible scenery as well as climbs and descents to leave you gasping. The coastline is justly famous with many such beautiful beach and the stretch from Hanoi to Ha Tien is definitely the most popular cycling trip in the region.
When to Ride
There are no good or bad seasons for visiting Vietnam. When one region is wet, cold or steaming hot, there is always somewhere else that is sunny and pleasantly warm. In the south, the wet season lasts from May to November (June to August are the wettest months). The dry season runs from December to April. Late February to May is hot and very humid. Northern Vietnam has two seasons: winter is quite cool and wet, and usually lasts from around November to April; the hot summers run from May to October. The north is subject to occasional typhoons during the summer months. Around Tet, the colorful Vietnamese New Year celebration that falls in late January or early February, flights are likely to be booked solid and accommodation can be almost impossible to find.
